The Pilgrimage

While travelling along the pilgrimage routes of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, I met a 65-year-old lady from America. She was missing an eye and had a disability with one of her legs. Despite that, she would always be the earliest person to get up at the break of dawn to start her journey. However, I would always catch up to her with my quick pace. One day, I asked her, “Why did you go on this pilgrimage? Is it not hard for you?” She said, “I came on this pilgrimage to gain the power of the spirit. Although I am missing an eye and have a disability with one of my legs, I believe that as long as I keep going, I will reach the destination eventually, right?” After listening to her reply, I was deeply moved. It makes me realize that it is the same for spiritual cultivation. As long as we do not give up and keep going, we will reach our destination!
